glenlake park

Glenlake Park is an existing 17-acre community park located in downtown Decatur, Georgia. Existing facilities include an outdoor swimming pool and bathhouse, five lighted tennis courts and small tennis center with restrooms, playground, covered pavilion, two small athletic fields and limited parking. jB+a was commissioned to develop a master plan and construction documents for renovations and upgrades to this park.

The master plan for Glenlake Park provided updates for several of the existing park elements, including park entrance and landscape improvements, updated pool and pool house, removal of three tennis courts to accommodate bio-retention, expanded parking areas, a reconfigured multi-use field, enlarged dog park, renovated basketball court and playground and reconfigured practice field.

A circuit walking trail connects each of the park elements and provides a pedestrian-safe corridor from adjacent neighborhoods. It also allows for an improved connection to the Decatur Cemetery, increasing recreational walking and biking opportunities for park visitors.
