jB+a collaborated with the Heard County Developement Authority to revitalize the historic town square. After creating a phasing plan, jB+a helped the Authority define the streetscape improvements that they could afford with their TE grant award. A pedestrian shade structure with cupola was proposed to represent the historic court house that once stood on the square. To the east of the shade structure, a veteran’s memorial plaza and wall will be dedicated to the residents of Franklin that once served in the armed forces. A large open lawn with shade trees, bench swings, and additional landscaping creates a community gathering space for festivals, holiday celebrations, and many more activities that occur in the City of Franklin.
