The jB+a Urban Design Team was commissioned by the City of Dallas to revitalize their historic downtown. The plan will redesign the current streetscape with shade trees, pavers, and furniture; as well as adding decorative elements, upgrading signage and lighting. The new streetscape will address issues such as coordination with storefronts, public and retail parking, and utility relocation. A new City Plaza will be located at the base of the Historic County Courthouse, replacing an existing parking lot, and tying together City and County uses. It will provide greenspace for passive gathering, as well as outdoor seating for local retail and restaurants. The end result will be a unique, innovative site design solution and a cost effective construction project.
