As a response to the rapid growth of Metropolitan
Atlanta, trails are being utilized as alternative
transportation facilities. The trails system proposed along
Big Creek is one of these alternative transportation
forms that will allow Forsyth County to be linked to
surrounding communities. Visualized as a linear park, the
Big Creek Greenway helps to protect natural resources
and allows Forsyth County to retain its scenic qualities.
The jB+a Park Design Studio worked with Pond and
Company and Forsyth County to lay out the 10’ wide
greenway trail from McGinnis Ferry Road to Bethelview
Road, a length of approximately 8 miles. The Trail system
is to be implemented in three phases.
The Big Creek Greenway Trail will connect into a Fulton
County greenway system located at McGinnis Ferry and
additional expansion of the Big Creek trail is planned
north of Bethelview road.
